We are a social welfare organization comprised of local residents committed to responsible development initiatives in Livingston County.
Who We Are
Livingston County Residents for Responsible Development is a social welfare organization made up of local residents united by one goal to support, organize, and champion responsible development initiatives in Livingston County that allow for prosperity without irreparable costs to our water, our land, our neighbors, and the character of our rural community.
We are nonpartisan and community-oriented. We are not funded by outside special interest political interests. We are simply neighbors who love this community and wish to see it prosper with thoughtful and responsible municipal planning and community engagement.
Why We Organized
In September 2025, Howell area residents discovered a proposal for a hyperscale data center on 1,000+ acres of farmland in Howell Township. The community complained of a lack of transparency and information from the start - and it became clear to us that we needed to organize to lift up and ensure resident voices were heard and credible information regarding the impact of data center development must be accessible to residents.
From this movement, we rediscovered the importance of regular engagement and action on local community initiatives. Residents must be involved in order to help shape the future of where they live! We are committed to a long-term vision of providing education and support and bolstering community engagement on issues of responsible development across Livingston County.
Mission & Vision
To protect the natural resources, rural character, and long-term livability of Livingston County through research, education, and advocacy for responsible, transparent, and sustainable development. We empower residents to engage in local decision-making, ensure accountability in land use planning, and promote policies that balance economic growth with environmental stewardship.
We envision a future where Livingston County communities thrive through responsible growth, with clean water, preserved farmland, protected open space, and transparent governance that places residents and sustainability at the center of all planning decisions.
